Preventing meningococcal infection caused by a certain type of bacteria (Neisseria meningitidis) in patients 2 through 55 years old.
Meningococcal (A, C, Y, W-135) Oligosaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine is a vaccine. It works by causing your immune system to produce antibodies against certain meningococcal bacteria, which helps your body to fight the infection.
Do NOT use Meningococcal (A, C, Y, W-135) Oligosaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Meningococcal (A, C, Y, W-135) Oligosaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine
- you have had a severe allergic reaction (eg, rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue) to a prior diphtheria toxoid or meningococcal-containing vaccination
- you have bleeding problems (eg, hemophilia, low platelets) or you are taking an anticoagulant (eg, warfarin)

If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Meningococcal (A, C, Y, W-135) Oligosaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine while you are pregnant. It is not known if Meningococcal (A, C, Y, W-135) Oligosaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate Vaccine is found in breast milk.
